Westport Construction Goes Paperless with AvidXchange

Westport's mission is to partner with purpose. We are the premier affordable housing contractor in Los Angeles. In any given year, we may have 15 to 18 projects going at one time. We have a huge housing crisis here in LA that we're trying to solve, one unit at a time.
Before we had AvidXchange, our AP process was very manual. There was no centralized tracking or database. We would get our invoices physically in the mail. We would scan it to the job site.
They would print it out. They would approve it, scan it back here to the office. We would print it out again and then that would go into another paper trail. So after we've accumulated all this paper, it all gets boxed up, put into our warehouse.
If we have to go find something to just sift through, all that paper would take an enormous amount of time. So now that we have AvidXchange, we get our invoices in just a centralized place. We have it digitally stored forever. We don't have to worry about being able to find something. We know where it is.
After our first year with AvidXchange, we found that the average person was saving at least two hours per day doing manual things. We found that we saved approximately 30,000 sheets of paper in a year. It's saving us a ton of space and a ton of time.
It's allowed me and the accounting staff to focus more on forward planning, strategic thinking, less on the day to day things. Going through the implementation process, and the onboarding was as seamless as could be. Every step of the way, they've been available, helpful. With millions of dollars on the line, you have to have that level of trust with your partners.
Being more efficient means that we can build these projects faster. Every day that there is a delay because of some paperwork is just another day that the project is not getting complete, which means that somebody is going another day without having a place to live.
