Next Money CLT, a group of banking, payment, and other financial-technology professionals recognized our own Chris Elmore as “Change Champion” for his work in the payment-automation space. Chris is a Fintech expert who shares his knowledge with new employees and conference attendees. He is also an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte where he teaches entrepreneurship. The Inaugural Next Money CLT Awards took place on Wednesday, January 11, at HQ Charlotte in Packard Place uptown.
Shannon Lawson, a Solutions Consultant at AvidXchange™, submitted Chris for the award. After reading her submission letter, it’s easy to see why Chris won:
“Chris Elmore, is both my boss and mentor. He is not just a champion but better yet the King of Change. As the first employee of AvidXchange, a wildly growing SaaS company now at over 800 employees, he has taught thousands of companies the benefits of changing their AP processes over the last 20 years.
While doing this 40+ hours a week, flying all across the country, public speaking at conferences, he also manages to teach at local universities on Entrepreneurship. He is going to change the game for what he knows is important for millennials entering the workplace outside of the classic business electives. Creativity, experience, blended with a more hands-on approach for the students, is sure to make them ready to enter the world of Fintech. In his first year of teaching, he won the “Adjunct Professor of the Year” award, and who were the nominators? The students of course.
These are just two examples of why he is a Change Champion, making a difference in both the lives of businesses and the real lives of our budding future who are going to continue these businesses. He has even thought of a way to blend these – giving the students an internship at our company.”
We’re extremely proud of Chris for his hard work and dedication to AvidXchange, its employees, and our customers. When asked how it felt to be recognized by Next Money CLT, Elmore said, “It was humbling to be named a Change Champion. I try as hard as I can to make change less scary, keeping change in the proper perspective and then flipping change from scary to strategic. Thanks to Next Money CLT for this great award, and thanks to Shannon for nominating me.”
